Topic: Ergonomic Injury Prevention: Strains and Sprains
This presentation will provide the attendees with information on the financial impact of workplace injuries. Included is a brief description of the spine and it role in posture, blood flow and discomfort and its effects on the bodies extremities. Specific information on the use of the joints and effects on the musculature is covered in detail.
This session will identify causes and preventative measures for common workplace ergonomic injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (strains/sprains). At the end of the session, the attendees will discuss as a group, possible ergonomic injuries and prevention using photos of employees in specific work-related postures.
Speaker: Gia Garofalo, CIS Onsite
Gia is a Physical Therapists Assistant with over 15 years of experience in multiple settings including hospitals, outpatient therapy clinics, home health, nursing facilities and currently industrial setting focusing on work injuries. I am trained as a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist and an Advanced Office Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. I provide onsite intervention to employees with soft tissue concerns within OSHA guidelines for the benefit of the employee’s health and to prevent recordables for the employer. The Early Intervention Program entails walk through of a facility, evaluation, and interaction of soft tissue (strains/sprains) concerns and jobsite ergonomic analysis
