AI-Powered Safety: Turning Standards into Action with ASSP Safety Trekr AI™

Upcoming Dates

Artificial intelligence is changing how professionals access information, solve problems, and make decisions. But in occupational safety and health, where the quality of information can directly affect worker protection, an important question remains: How can we leverage AI to work more effectively without compromising the reliability of our technical guidance?

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is helping answer that question through Safety Trekr AI™, an AI-powered research tool designed to connect safety professionals with trusted technical knowledge, including ANSI/ASSP consensus standards and the Safety Professionals Handbook.

Join the ASSP Three Rivers Chapter for an engaging technical session featuring Rick Blanchette and Lauren Bauerschmidt, CSP, from ASSP’s Standards and Technical Publications team, as we explore how AI is transforming the way safety professionals access and apply technical knowledge.

This session will introduce Safety Trekr AI, explore its practical applications, and highlight how safety professionals can use AI-assisted research to navigate complex standards, develop safety resources, and strengthen workplace risk management.

Participants will explore how AI-powered tools can support activities such as identifying relevant technical guidance, preparing safety checklists, developing training materials, and translating technical knowledge into actionable workplace practices.

The discussion will also emphasize the importance of professional judgment, source verification, and responsible AI use when incorporating emerging technologies into safety management processes.

Whether you are an experienced EHS leader, safety practitioner, consultant, or student, this session will provide valuable insights into the intersection of artificial intelligence, consensus standards, and the future of safety practice.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the capabilities of ASSP Safety Trekr AI and explain how AI-powered research tools can support occupational safety and health professionals.
  2. Identify opportunities to use AI-assisted research to access ANSI/ASSP consensus standards, technical publications, and established safety practices.
  3. Apply AI-supported approaches to common safety activities, including developing checklists, preparing training materials, and researching workplace hazards and controls.
  4. Evaluate the reliability and limitations of AI-generated safety information, including the importance of source verification and professional judgment.
  5. Analyze opportunities to integrate AI-powered knowledge tools into existing safety management processes to improve efficiency, risk assessment, and preventive decision-making.
