Ethics for the Safety Professional

Tailored for Safety Professionals, this ethics course, led by Dr. Geneace Williams, a distinguished expert in ethics and leadership, explores the vital intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the safety field. Drawing upon her extensive background in corporate defense law, business leadership, and academia, Dr. Williams focuses on ethical leadership, crisis management, and conflict resolution.  Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to make ethically sound decisions and lead with integrity in the field of safety.

Objectives:

  • Equip Safety Professionals with a comprehensive understanding of ethical leadership principles and their direct application in safety-related scenarios.
  • Examine the ethical dimensions of crisis management and conflict resolution within the safety context, employing strength-based methods to foster safer and more equitable outcomes.
  • Explore the critical link between diversity, equity, and inclusion in the realm of safety, empowering professionals to navigate complex ethical challenges and contribute to creating safer, more inclusive environments.

Presenter:

Dr. Geneace Williams:  With a career that has spanned from corporate defense law to business leadership, consulting, and academia, Dr. Geneace Williams’ depth of experience has led to her current focus on the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion to communities and organizations. She has a history of leading change and managing conflict and crises utilizing strength-based methods. Geneace is the author of “Leadership DASH: Breaking Through the Finish Line”, which gets to the heart of how people become leaders of impact. Dr. Williams taught Ethics for more than 5 years at Benedictine University, with ethics being an area of focus in her doctoral studies. She previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, including as its Chair. She currently serves on the DEI Executive Advisory Committee for the DuPage Children’s Museum, the Diversity Task Force of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, and as member of the Board of Trustees at Garrett Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University.
