Having a strong safety culture has a significant impact on workplace incidents and employee wellness. Research has shown that employers who value and engage with employees in creating a healthy safety culture have higher production and retention levels.  Without dispute, the safety programs creating the policies, procedures, and training are essential in workplace wellbeing.  However, safety culture goes beyond the compliance with the higher maturity levels involving employee buy-in and commitment.  Safety culture is shared values, attitudes, beliefs, and practices demonstrated by workers at all levels of the organization.

This presentation will provide information and tools to support employee development in learning from mistakes, continuously improving, reducing workarounds, and sharing knowledge.  At the end of the day, culture is what happens when the boss is not around.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify applicable safety culture principles
  • Understand how to sustain a healthy culture
